Conifer species distribution in Yosemite National Park, California, USA (1991 to 2017), along gradients of annual evapotranspiration (AET) and climatic water deficit (Deficit) are shown for the 394 plots where conifers were present and the 167 plots where conifers were absent. The solid line is the reduced major axis regression that identifies the primary AET–Deficit gradient along which survey plots tended to occur. Mean annual AET and mean annual deficit are plotted as triangles for all species. Species symbols for conifers are listed in Table 2
