Linear regression of sagebrush cover estimated in the field (abscissa) and the National Land Cover Database (NLCD; ordinate) in the spatially extensive dataset (Fig. 1) for the burned areas in sagebrush steppe of the Great Basin, USA, that had sagebrush presence and cover measured at least once between 2011 and 2018. The blue line and equation show the least-squares regression fit, with 95% confidence intervals in gray. For comparison, the red line depicts perfect agreement between estimates (which was not observed)
