Predicted means and confidence intervals are estimated from the “best” model relating habitat variables to pellet densities, as identified through multivariate analyses with multi-model inference. Other predictor variables in the “best” model are fixed at typical values (medians, or in the case of categorical data, at their proportional distribution in the data), while predictions are made across the range of understory cover observed in the data.
