Fire severity of two successive fires as measured by RdNBR. The Storrie Fire ignited on 17 August 2000, burning 23 000 ha of land within Lassen National Forest and Plumas National Forest, California, USA. Twelve years later, on 29 July 2012, the Chips Fire started within the Storrie Fire footprint, reburning 10 000 ha. The red line represents the results of a simple linear regression model with 95 % confidence interval (red dashed line) of the relationship between Storrie Fire severity and Chips Fire reburn severity.
