Table 4 Mortality rates for trees ≥1 cm DBH within and outside buffered shrub patches between the pre-fire year (2013) and the immediate post-fire year (May 2014) in the Yosemite Forest Dynamics Plot. Buffered shrub patches composed the actual area of shrubs plus a buffer of 1.0 m and totaled 64 532 m2 (25.2 % of the YFDP). Significantly different tree mortality rates within and outside buffered shrub patches are shown in bold (χ2 test; α = 0.005).
