Stand structural classes include post-fire bare ground (PFBG), stand initiation (SI), stem exclusion open canopy (SEOC), stem exclusion closed canopy (SECC), understory re-initiation (UR), young forest multi-story (YFMS), old forest multi-story (OFMS), and old forest single story (OFSS). Surface fuel models are fire behavior fuel models (FBFMs) of Scott and Burgan (2005). An alternative fuel model assignment (ALT FBFM) is used to represent generally cooler and moister fuels in cold forests
