Conditional classification trees used to identify the main drivers associated with A low fire activity during extreme weather years and B high fire activity during non-extreme weather years. Extreme fire weather were years with weather indices > 83 (98th percentile). High fire activity (lg, light gray) years were those where > 20% of the landscape burned (95th percentile) and low fire activity (sm, dark gray) years were those where < 20% of the landscape burned. In both models, the number of ignitions (IGNIT_COUNT) and the percentage of the study area in the None fuel class (i.e., non-burnable or low flame length and rate-of-spread fuels) were the main drivers of fire activity
